The Coral Riviera is one of the most varied stretches of coast in Sardinia: in less than thirty kilometres you move from urban pale-sand beaches to wild bays among the cliffs, from protected pine forests to hidden coves reachable only on foot. All seven beaches in our selection are within day-trip distance of the Alghero apartment — the closest ten minutes on foot, the furthest half an hour by car. Each has its own character: choose by the day's wind, your companions, the hour. Below is the full guide, one page per beach with how to get there, services, rules and practical tips.
How to choose the right beach
With small children: Lido (urban, equipped, shallow water) or Maria Pia (pine forest, sheltered from the wind). For the postcard day: Bombarde and Lazzaretto (golden sand, emerald water). When the Mistral blows: La Stalla, Lazzaretto or the sheltered coves behind Capo Caccia. For wild nature: Porto Ferro (dunes, open sea, spectacular sunsets). For seabed snorkelling: Mugoni and La Stalla, rocky bottoms full of life. For sunset: Porto Ferro and Maria Pia. Wind is the most important variable: if the Mistral is strong, exposed beaches (Bombarde, Mugoni, Porto Ferro) get rough sea; sheltered ones (Lazzaretto, Lido) stay calm.
