Le Bombarde beach
Golden sand and emerald water, the most famous beach west of Alghero

Le Bombarde beach, named after the sound of the Mistral wind breaking on the rocks that frame it, is the most famous beach on the coast west of Alghero. Medium-grained golden sand, water shading from emerald green to turquoise, a pine forest behind offering natural shade: a combination that makes it one of the most photographed destinations on the Coral Riviera. Fifteen minutes by car from the apartment.
The bay and the pine forest
The beach is a crescent of about 700 metres sheltered by low cliffs at each end. The bottom slopes gently for the first ten metres — ideal for children — then deepens, allowing good snorkelling along the side rocks. The Le Bombarde pine forest behind the beach is a shady oasis with free picnic tables: a precious resource in the hottest hours of July and August.
Access and tips
Paid parking on gravel (€3–5 per day), often full by 10:00 in peak months: come early or head there in the late afternoon. On the beach, parasol and sunbed rental (€15–25 per day), two bar-kiosks with sandwiches and drinks. The bottom changes: on the right of the bay sand with little seaweed, on the left some rocks where you can snorkel. The Mistral on August afternoons can raise the waves: if you want flat sea, go in the morning.
